A signature item unlocks when its hero reaches Mythic and costs 20 Primordial Emblems to activate. Its skill improves at +10, +20, +30 and +40. Heroes from the four main factions stop at +40, while Celestials, Hypogeans, Dimensionals, Draconis heroes and every hero that starts at Legendary can keep going to +50 for extra stats.
Which heroes have one
All 229 heroes that start at Elite or Legendary have a signature item. Rare and Common heroes don't. The item stays locked until the hero is Mythic, and after that every level is open, so there's no further ascension gate between +0 and the cap.
| Hero group | Max level |
|---|---|
| Elite Lightbearers, Maulers, Wilders, Graveborn | +40 |
| Celestials, Hypogeans, Dimensionals, Draconis | +50 |
| Heroes that start at Legendary (Awakened heroes and the rest) | +50 |
Emblem costs
Each band of ten levels uses a different emblem. From +20 the emblem matches the hero's faction: Light for Lightbearers, Might for Maulers, Nature for Wilders, Death for Graveborn, Divinity for Celestials, Chaos for Hypogeans, Space for Dimensionals and Dragonspeak for Draconis. From +30 to +40 each level can be paid in either the Epic version of that emblem or a larger number of the regular one, your choice level by level, and from +40 only Epic emblems work.
| Band | Emblem | Cost of each level, in order | Band total |
|---|---|---|---|
| Activate | Primordial | 20 | 20 |
| +0 to +10 | Primordial | 10, 10, 10, 10, 15, 20, 20, 25, 30, 50 | 200 |
| +10 to +20 | Amplifying | 10, 10, 15, 15, 20, 25, 25, 30, 40, 50 | 240 |
| +20 to +30 | Faction | 10, 20, 20, 20, 30, 30, 40, 40, 40, 50 | 300 |
| +30 to +40 | Epic faction | 30, 40, 50, 55, 60, 65, 70, 80, 90, 110 | 650 |
| +30 to +40, instead of Epic | Faction | 40, 45, 50, 60, 70, 80, 90, 100, 125, 160 | 820 |
| +40 to +50 | Epic faction | 50, 60, 70, 80, 120, 140, 180, 200, 220, 240 | 1,360 |
Running totals from a locked item:
| Target | Primordial | Amplifying | Faction | Epic faction |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| +10 | 220 | |||
| +20 | 220 | 240 | ||
| +30 | 220 | 240 | 300 | |
| +40, paying Epic | 220 | 240 | 300 | 650 |
| +40, paying regular | 220 | 240 | 1,120 | |
| +50 (Epic route) | 220 | 240 | 300 | 2,010 |
The +30 to +40 band is the expensive jump. Paid entirely in regular faction emblems it costs 820, almost three times the 300 the whole previous band took; paid in Epic emblems it costs 650 of those instead. The regular route gets a hero to +40 without any Epic emblems, which only start dropping after stage 37-60; the Epic route takes fewer emblems and leaves your regular ones for other heroes' +20 to +30 bands. Outside Draconis, Fortuitous Emblem Choice Chests can stand in for the regular emblems and Epic Emblem Choice Chests for the Epic ones.
The costs are the same for every faction. The last level of each band is always the most expensive one in it, which matters because that last level is the one that upgrades the skill.
Skill tiers
The skill unlocks at +0 and changes at +10, +20, +30 and +40. Levels in between, and everything from +41 to +50, only add stats. Estrilda's Banner of Rayne (the Elite Estrilda, not the Awakened one) shows how much a tier can change:
| Level | In Command |
|---|---|
| +0 | When Estrilda is on the frontline and still alive, all damage received by her backline allies is reduced by 5%. |
| +10 | Same, reduced by 10%. |
| +20 | Same, reduced by 15%. |
| +30 | When any allied hero is on the frontline and still alive, their backline allies take 15% less damage. |
| +40 | When Estrilda is deployed, her backline allies take 20% less damage. |
The +30 tier removes the need for Estrilda herself to survive on the frontline, and +40 removes the frontline condition entirely. Other heroes change in the same lumpy way. The Elite Athalia's Bloodless goes from a Defense boost (+0 and +10) to damage over time on attackers (+20), widens it to anyone she hits (+30), then at +40 stops the first enemy she damages from gaining Energy, shields or healing for 8 seconds. Arthur's Battle Rally adds Crit Rating at +10 and +20, control immunity and healing at +30, and shares his Shield of Honor at +40.
Since the skill only moves at those five points, read the hero's tier text before spending. A tier that changes how the skill works (like Estrilda's +30) can matter more than several tiers that bump a number, and only the tier text tells you which kind a hero has.
Stats
Every level adds a little to the hero's own stat set, which is different per hero. Estrilda's grows from 0.9% Health, 0.5% Attack and 20 Accuracy at +0 to 42% Health, 23% Attack and 80 Accuracy at +40. Athalia's goes from 0.6% Health and Attack at +0 to 28% Health and Attack, 25 Dodge and 15 Life Leech at +40.
From +31 a second block of stats switches on. Its first part is the same for every hero except the Awakened Lucius and Thoran, whose split leans further toward Defense:
| Level | Health | Attack | Defense |
|---|---|---|---|
| +31 | 0.98% | 0.48% | 1.48% |
| +35 | 4.93% | 2.4% | 7.4% |
| +40 | 9.86% | 4.8% | 14.81% |
| +45 | 21.69% | 10.56% | 32.59% |
| +50 | 33.53% | 16.32% | 50.37% |
The rest of the block is two or three stats picked for the hero. At +40, Estrilda gets 17.13 Tenacity, 11.35 Dissolve and another 9.86% Health. Athalia gets 5.83 Physical Pierce, 8.75 Erosion and 7.2% Attack. Arthur gets 19.43 Buffer, 9.86% Health and 7.2 Crit Block Rate.
The hero's own stat set stops growing at +40, so +41 to +50 is entirely this second block. It's still a big jump: Health from the block goes from 9.86% at +40 to 33.53% at +50, and Defense from 14.81% to 50.37%. What those ten levels don't bring is a new skill tier. The 1,360 Epic emblems they cost would pay for two other heroes' +30 to +40 bands at 650 each, and each of those ends in a skill tier. Epic emblems are tied to a faction, so that comparison holds between heroes of the same faction, or for any two heroes when you're spending Epic Emblem Choice Chests.
Where emblems come from
| Emblem | Where the item says it comes from |
|---|---|
| Primordial | Drops after chapter 17 |
| Amplifying | Drops after chapter 18 |
| Light, Might, Nature, Death | Drop after chapter 19 |
| Divinity, Chaos | AFK Rewards after stage 17-40, or events |
| Space | Labyrinth Store |
| Epic Light, Might, Nature, Death | Drop after stage 37-60 |
| Epic Divinity, Chaos, Space | AFK Rewards after stage 37-60, or events |
The Fortuitous Emblem Choice Chest opens into any one of the seven regular faction emblems (Light, Might, Nature, Death, Divinity, Chaos or Space), and the Epic Emblem Choice Chest into any one of the seven Epic ones. Neither covers Dragonspeak emblems, so Draconis signature items have to be fed with their own emblems.
