Every hero wears four pieces of gear, and each piece comes in 14 qualities from Crude to Mythic T5. Enhancing a piece to its cap adds 10% of its base stats per level, a faction tag that matches the wearer multiplies the base stats by 1.3, and from Mythic T3 up each piece also carries a bonus for the one hero it's bound to.
Slots and gear types
A hero's type decides which gear it can wear, and each type has its own weapon and armor family.
| Hero type | Weapon | Head, chest and feet |
|---|---|---|
| Strength | Heavy Weapon | Plate Armor helmet, plate and boots |
| Agility | Light Weapon | Leather Armor mask, chest piece and shoes |
| Intelligence | Magic Staff | Padded Armor hat, robe and sandals |
Gear never crosses types, so a Strength hero can't use a Light Weapon even at a higher quality.

| Legendary+ | +5 | 80,000 | Berserker's Treachery (980) | Rayne's Might (1,050) | Staff of the Enlightened (900) |
| Mythic | +5 | 160,000 | Gaius' Flail (1,650) | Ancelot's Edge (1,800) | Mystic's Staff of Magic (1,500) |
| Mythic T1 | +5 | 160,000 | Gilded Flail of Dark Vengeance (2,100) | Thunder Steel Piercer (2,700) | Crow's Grandstaff of Dark Magic (3,500) |
| Mythic T2 | +5 | 160,000 | Hammer of Mountains (5,500) | Renegade's Spiker (6,000) | Brightstaff (7,500) |
| Mythic T3 | +5 | 160,000 | Wraith's Severance (9,900) | Bleak Claws (10,800) | Filthmonger's Cursebinder (13,500) |

| Mythic T5 | +5 | 160,000 | Oaken Oath (93,600) | Twilight Strike (100,000) | Mistletoe Decree (136,000) |
The ATK figures are base values at +0. The jump from T4 to T5 is the biggest in the chain: the T5 weapons have 3.6 to 3.7 times the ATK of their T4 versions.
Enhancement
Enhancement opens after stage 1-1. Each level adds 10% of the item's base stats, so +5 is worth 50% on top of the base. On Mythic T3 and above, enhancement only raises HP, ATK and Defense, not the item's secondary stats.
Every enhancement point costs 100 gold on top of the material. Points come from Enhancement Tokens or from feeding other gear.
| Material | Points |
|---|---|
| Common Enhancement Tokens | 10 each |
| Rare Enhancement Tokens | 1,000 each |
| Crude gear | 10 |
| Common gear | 40 |
| Rare gear | 100 |
| Rare+ gear | 240 |
| Elite gear | 500 |
| Elite+ gear | 1,000 |
| Legendary gear | 2,000 |
| Legendary+ gear | 4,000 |
| Mythic, Mythic T1 and Mythic T2 gear | 8,000 |
Fed gear also returns every point already spent enhancing it, so nothing invested in an old item is lost. Mythic T1 and T2 gear can't be fed if it carries a faction tag, and Mythic T3 and higher can't be fed at all.
Taking one Mythic piece from +0 to +5 needs 160,000 points: 160 Rare Enhancement Tokens and 16 million gold. The last level alone, +4 to +5, is 72,000 of those points. The per-level points for Mythic and every tier above it are the same:
| Level | Points | Gold |
|---|---|---|
| +0 to +1 | 8,000 | 800,000 |
| +1 to +2 | 16,000 | 1,600,000 |
| +2 to +3 | 24,000 | 2,400,000 |
| +3 to +4 | 40,000 | 4,000,000 |
| +4 to +5 | 72,000 | 7,200,000 |
Because the cost per level doesn't change between Mythic and T5 but the stats per level grow with the base, enhancement points are worth more the higher the tier they go into.
Faction tags
A piece of gear can carry a faction tag. On a hero of that faction, a tagged item of Rare quality or better has its base attributes multiplied by 1.3. Enhancement bonuses aren't multiplied, and on Crude and Common gear the tag does nothing.
A Reset Scroll rerolls the faction of a Mythic or higher item at random, with equal odds for Lightbearers, Maulers, Wilders, Graveborn, Celestials and Hypogeans. It can't produce a Dimensional or Draconis tag. Reset Scrolls come from Weekly Quests.
Mythic T1 to T5
Mythic gear goes up five more tiers with Rune Stones, and the last step uses Rune Cores. Each type has its own stone and core: Stone of Fortitude and Core of Fortitude for Plate Armor and Heavy Weapons, Stone of Celerity and Core of Celerity for Leather Armor and Light Weapons, Stone of Magic and Core of Magic for Padded Armor and Magic Staffs.
| Step | Cost per piece |
|---|---|
| Mythic to T1 | 2 Rune Stones |
| T1 to T2 | 3 Rune Stones |
| T2 to T3 | 5 Rune Stones |
| T3 to T4 | 15 Rune Stones |
| T4 to T5 | 10 Rune Cores |
That's 25 Rune Stones and 10 Rune Cores for one piece, or 100 stones and 40 cores to put a hero in four T5 pieces. Older upgrade stones were converted to Rune Stones at these rates: Stone of Force, Quickness and Cleverness at 2 each, Stone of Might, Agility and Intelligence at 3, the old T3 Stone of Fortitude, Shadow and Mystery at 5, and Stone of Toughness, Alacrity and Conjuration at 15.
The T3 step changes how the item works. It can only be done while an Ascended hero is wearing the piece, and the piece becomes bound to that hero. Its faction bonus and enhancement are merged into the new base stats, and it gains a hero bonus that only applies to the hero it's bound to. From then on it can only be upgraded while that hero wears it. The hero bonuses grow at T4 and T5:
| Slot | T5 piece | Hero bonus at T5 |
|---|---|---|
| Heavy Weapon | Oaken Oath | HP +3.9%, ATK +6.5%, Defense +4.2%, Physical Resist +1.8, Magic Resist +3.6 |
| Plate helmet | Oaken Vigil | HP +5.2%, Defense +3.1%, Physical Resist +5, Magic Resist +4.7, Crit Damage Resistance +7 |
| Plate chest | Oaken Canopy | HP +8%, ATK +2.9%, Defense +7.7%, Tenacity +7 |
| Plate boots | Oaken Soles | HP +6.8%, Defense +5.8%, Crit Rating +1.5, Magic Resist +3, Tenacity +12 |
| Light Weapon | Twilight Strike | ATK +7.3%, Crit Rating +1, Physical Resist +1.5, Magic Resist +1.3, Physical Pierce +2 |
| Leather mask | Twilight Perception | HP +5.8%, Defense +5.8%, Crit Rating +2, Physical Resist +2, Crit Damage Resistance +8 |
| Leather chest | Twilight Mantle | HP +6.1%, Defense +6.5%, Physical Resist +2, Magic Resist +4, Crit Block Rate +4 |
| Leather shoes | Twilight Traces | HP +5%, ATK +5.6%, Defense +4.6%, Tenacity +8 |
| Magic Staff | Mistletoe Decree | HP +1.2%, ATK +7%, Defense +3.3%, Physical Resist +1.6, Magic Pierce +2 |
| Padded hat | Mistletoe's Insight | HP +5.5%, ATK +2%, Defense +6.6%, Magic Resist +4, Crit Damage Amplification +6 |
| Padded robe | Mistletoe's Embrace | HP +6%, Defense +7.3%, Physical Resist +3.3, Magic Resist +1.7, Crit Block Rate +4 |
| Padded sandals | Mistletoe's Path | HP +4.3%, ATK +4.2%, Defense +3.1%, Crit Rating +2, Tenacity +9 |
Since T3 locks a piece to one hero, put T3 upgrades on heroes you'll field for a long time. A T3, T4 or T5 piece can be reset back to T2, which returns Rune Stones: 5 from T3, 15 from T4, and 20 stones plus 10 Rune Cores from T5. The T4 reset gives back 15 of the 20 stones it took to get there.
Gear Resonance
Gear Resonance opens after stage 19-40. Once you've collected enough pieces of a tier, it raises every lower-rated piece your heroes wear to that tier.
| Resonance tier | Pieces needed | Effect on raised gear |
|---|---|---|
| Mythic | 60 Mythic pieces | Raised with faction bonus, not enhanced |
| Mythic T1 | 60 T1 pieces | Raised with faction bonus, not enhanced |
| Mythic T2 | 80 T2 pieces | Raised with faction bonus, not enhanced |
| Mythic T3 | 100 T3 pieces | Raised without faction bonus or enhancement |
| Mythic T4 | 120 T4 pieces | Raised without faction bonus or enhancement |
Mythic T5 Resonance unlocks faction by faction, each step counting T5 pieces and needing the one before it: Wilders at 20, Maulers and Celestials at 40, Lightbearers at 65, Graveborn at 90, then Dimensional and Hypogeans at 120. Draconis T5 Resonance is separate and needs 40 Draconis T5 pieces equipped.
A raised piece that was already T3 or higher keeps its hero bonus. Resonating gear can't be enhanced, upgraded or reset, so turn resonance off on a piece before you work on it. Resonance is the reason not to spread Rune Stones thin: real T3 and higher pieces on your main heroes carry hero bonuses and enhancement that resonated pieces never get.
