The Twisted Realm is a guild-hall boss fight scored on damage. A new session opens every 2 days with one boss, your best single attempt sets your division, and the division pays Twisted Essence (for the Elder Tree), Poe Coins (for the Oak Inn) and Twisted Sigils. It unlocks after Stage 12-40, and you need to be in a guild.
Rules that shape every attempt
- Only heroes in your Resonating Crystal, Dimensional heroes and mercenaries can fight. One mercenary per formation is allowed, with no limit on how often you use it.
- Players on the same floor have their heroes set to the same level, while gear and Ascension tier stay as they are.
- Your floor comes from the average level of the five heroes on the Pentagram, or from the Resonating Crystal level once that passes 240. Everyone on a floor shares one leaderboard.
- Bosses get stronger each time they lose a set amount of health. Each step is a stack of "Enraged", and several boss skills change once enough stacks build up.
- Only your highest damage of the session counts.
You get 5 free attempts per session and can make up to 99 in total. Extra attempts come in purchases of 5, and each purchase gets more expensive:
| Purchase number | Diamonds per purchase |
|---|---|
| 1 to 10 | 50 |
| 11 to 20 | 100 |
| 21 to 30 | 200 |
| 31 to 40 | 300 |
| 41 to 50 | 400 |
| 51 to 60 | 500 |
| 61 to 70 | 600 |
| 71 to 80 | 700 |
| 81 to 90 | 800 |
| 91 to 99 | 900 |
Auto battle buys attempts automatically when you run out, and it only charges for the attempts it actually reaches.
Boss rotation
The bosses come in a fixed order, then loop:
1. Kane
2. Demonic Nemora
3. Dune Destroyer
4. Ice Shemira
5. Grotesque Mage
6. Burning Brute
The Unhinged (Arden) was dropped from the rotation when Dune Destroyer joined. The Cursed Realm uses the same bosses with its own schedule.
The bosses
Kane
Kane hits the whole team with Dragon Fire (130% AoE) and Hellblade, which first deals 30% damage to everyone and destroys every shield, then 165% to everyone. Hell's Judgment is the one that matters: at 15, 40 and 65 seconds, Kane kills whichever of your heroes has dealt the most damage so far. Your main carry will die at 15 seconds unless someone else is ahead of it on damage, so teams that spread damage over several heroes, or can revive, keep scoring longer. Shields won't save anyone from Hellblade.
Demonic Nemora
Nemora can't be attacked. She keeps 5 Dreafs on the field and summons a fresh set whenever all of them are dead. Damage to a Dreaf also counts as damage to Nemora, and Dreafs get stronger while Nemora is Enraged. Each re-summon also gives her side +100 Haste and +40 Crit Rating for 5 seconds, and Baneful Guard puts a large shield on whichever of her allies has the least energy, which then recovers energy quickly. AoE damage is the whole fight, since every Dreaf hit adds to your score.
Dune Destroyer
Dune Destroyer punishes teams without shields. Shield Breaking Roar hits 2 targets, front row first. A shielded target loses its shield, while an unshielded target is crystallized for 10 seconds and can't act. Each shield the crystallized hero gains cuts that time by 2 seconds. Crystal Burst hits everyone and blocks healing for 10 seconds, and every third cast blocks it for 20. Crystallized Wounds makes any hero who goes 3 seconds after a hit without gaining a shield lose 20% max health per second. Healing does little here, and a steady source of shields keeps the team alive.
Ice Shemira
Once Ice Shemira has a stack of Enraged, Blizzard covers the field. Your heroes can't heal while it lasts, and with more stacks it hits harder and knocks heroes back. Frozen Grasp hits two frontliners several times and slows them, then Frost Nova hits everyone and freezes any hero below 50% health. Every Blizzard also gives her a 12-second shield that ignores any hit smaller than 50% of the shield's value, and the shield grows by 20% per Enraged stack. Big single hits get through that shield, and lots of small hits mostly don't.
Grotesque Mage
The Grotesque Mage leaves the fight once your team has used 6 ultimates, which ends the battle on the spot. Every ultimate brings that exit closer, so a team that deals its damage through normal attacks and passives gets more time. Its normal attacks bounce lightning through your formation up to 10 times, and each hit lowers Attack Rating by 7% for 5 seconds. With one hero left, it fires a single bolt that cuts Attack by 28%. Phantom Magic hits the team and creates a phantom that strips most of your buffs and takes their bonuses. Damage to the phantom doesn't count toward your score.
Burning Brute
The Burning Brute opens with Blaze Barrier, which cuts damage from attacks that come from outside it by 80%. The barrier drops while the Brute dozes, which happens for 5 seconds at 2 and at 5 Enraged stacks. After its first nap it learns to smash the ground behind itself and make fire erupt under your heroes, and after the second its frontal attacks get stronger. Most of your score comes from attacks that start inside the barrier, plus burst timed for the two dozes.
Divisions
The top 50 damage dealers on each floor make the Legend division. Everyone else lands in Diamond, Gold, Silver or Bronze, each split into five sub-divisions from 1 (best) to 5, based on damage targets taken from up to 5 previous sessions on that floor. The target also depends on your floor and the boss. You can view the formation and replay behind any player's best attempt.
Rewards
Rewards arrive by mail at the end of the session, one mail for your own rewards and one for guild rewards. Your division sets the base. Higher floors multiply the Twisted Essence, from 100% on the lowest floors up to 150% at the top, and raise the Poe Coins too. Twisted Sigils only depend on division.
| Division | Twisted Essence (base) | Poe Coins (base) | Twisted Sigils |
|---|---|---|---|
| Legend, ranks 1 to 10 | 150 | 720 | 750 |
| Legend, ranks 11 to 50 | 149 down to 135 | 710 down to 600 | 750 |
| Diamond 1 to 5 | 135, 130, 125, 120, 115 | 600, 576, 552, 528, 504 | 725 |
| Gold 1 to 5 | 113, 111, 110, 105, 100 | 480, 456, 432, 408, 384 | 700 |
| Silver 1 to 5 | 90, 80, 70, 60, 50 | 360, 336, 312, 288, 264 | 700 |
| Bronze 1 to 5 | 45, 40, 35, 30, 20 | 240, 180, 120, 60, 60 | 700 |
On the highest floors, Silver 3 and everything below it is guaranteed at least 70 base Twisted Essence.
The Twisted Essence curve is flat at the top and steep at the bottom. Diamond 1 pays 90% of a rank 1 Legend's Essence, while Bronze 5 pays 13%. Moving from Bronze or Silver into Gold is worth far more than squeezing out Legend over Diamond, so it's worth spending your free attempts trying formations until you clear the Gold target.
Guild rewards
Each Legend player adds Legend Points to their guild: 100 for rank 1, 75 for rank 2, 60 for rank 3, sloping down to 10 for ranks 45 to 50. Every guild member who attacked the boss that session then gets diamonds based on the guild's total:
| Guild Legend Points (at least) | Diamonds per member |
|---|---|
| 10 | 50 |
| 20 | 55 |
| 30 | 60 |
| 40 | 65 |
| 50 | 70 |
| 80 | 75 |
| 100 | 100 |
Members who didn't attack get nothing, and leaving the guild before results are calculated forfeits the reward. One attack per session is enough to qualify.
Fabled Realm
The highest-level accounts compete on a separate leaderboard, the Fabled Realm, where every rank pays the rank 1 Legend amounts of Twisted Essence and Poe Coins. Fabled Realm ranks also earn Dream Diver's Glory medals (Legendary for the top 50%, Mythic for the top 100, Ascended for the top 10), which last 3 days. Each ranking player also drops a Fortune Chest of Twisted Essence for their guild, split across up to 70 claims and lasting 4 days:
| Fabled Realm rank | Guild chest Twisted Essence |
|---|---|
| 1 to 10 | 1,050 |
| 11 to 50 | 840 |
| 51 to 200 | 700 |
| 201 to 500 | 560 |
| Below 500 | 420 |
